Honoring Truckers: National Truck Driver Appreciation Week 2025

Honoring Truckers: National Truck Driver Appreciation Week 2025 – NTDAW took place this year from September 14–20, 2025. At Thunder, we know that honoring drivers isn’t just about one week, it’s about acknowledging a profession that’s as demanding as it is essential. And even though trucks moved 11.27 billion tons of freight in 2024; and the industry generated nearly $906 billion in revenue, many drivers feel the weight of a profession that’s often thankless, overlooked, and stretched far beyond its limits.
The Reality of Life on the Road
Truck driving is more than just a job. It’s long hours behind the wheel, nights away from family, battling traffic, tight delivery schedules, and ever-changing weather. It’s physically and mentally demanding work that most Americans rarely think about, even as they enjoy the products truckers deliver daily. Drivers sacrifice comfort and routine to keep shelves stocked, hospitals supplied, and businesses running.
Thunder’s 2025 Celebrations
We don’t just say “thank you.” We act.
- Get Pumped Fuel Contest – Now in its third year, the contest kicked off during NTDAW and will run through December. The more carriers fuel with the Thunder Fuel Card, the more entries they receive. With fuel being one of the largest expenses in the industry, this contest is designed to give back where it matters most.
- 7th Annual Photo Contest – Our clients once again shared incredible snapshots of their rigs out on the road. These photos don’t just show trucks, they tell stories of resilience, freedom, and pride in the work.
- Coffee & Donuts at Aliso Creek – Sometimes appreciation is as simple as a hot cup of coffee and a warm hello. For the 3rd year in a row, we headed to the Aliso Creek Rest Area to meet drivers face-to-face and thank them personally for what they do every day.

More Than a Week of Thanks
National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is a reminder of just how much we rely on truckers, but the truth is the work doesn’t stop once the week ends. At Thunder, we believe recognition should be ongoing. Drivers are the backbone of our economy, the lifeline of our communities, and the everyday heroes behind the wheel.
So, to every trucker who sacrifices, perseveres, and keeps America moving: we see you, we thank you, and we appreciate you!
